What Is Prostatic Cancer? Prostate cancer is cancer that occurs in a man’s prostate. Prostate cancer occurs when prostate cells grow more rapidly than normal conditions to form lumps or tumors that have a malignancy. This cancer is most common in men, especially those aged over 65 years.

Symptoms of prostate cancer
Prostate cancer at early stages are asymptomatic. Symptoms of prostate cancer occurs when prostate cancer at an advanced stage. Symptoms of prostate cancer at an advanced stage are:

- Urinary disorders include difficulty starting urination, difficult to regulate the emission of urine and sometimes feels pain when urinating (Sometimes the symptoms resemble BPH, which include difficulty in urination and frequent urination)

  •  Increased urinary frequency, but a little – a little, especially at night
  •  Sometimes – sometimes found blood in the urine
  • Symptoms of prostate cancer that has spread to other organs in the form of bone pain, especially the spine, pelvis or ribs and upper femur (proximal). Prostate cancer in the spine can press the connection cord, causing leg weakness and could not resist urination and defecation.

Stage Prostate Cancer
In the early stages of prostate cancer is still localized, but at the level of information can spread to other parts of the body like bones and lymph nodes in the groin. Stage prostate cancer is determined by how far the diffusion rate.

Staging of prostate cancer using the TNM system, T = tumor, N = node, M = metastases:

T1 = tumor is only in the prostate, yet can be felt through the palpability through the anus.
T2 = tumor is still within the prostate, can already be felt through touch.
T3 = tumor has spread into surrounding tissues such as glands that produce semen seminal vesicles
T4 = tumor has spread to bone or lymph nodes
N1-3 means the cancer has spread to the lymph node / lymph glands. N0 means not spread to the lymph.
M followed by 1a, b or c indicates the cancer has spread to bones or other organs.

Treatment of Prostatic Cancer

Handling of prostate cancer is very complex, including with surgery, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy. Usually a combination of more than one treatment method is executed. Handling is done depends on:

  • Size, stage of cancer and the degree of ferocity (PSA level).
  • Condition of the patient: age, general health, and preferences.
