Treatment For Ovarian Cysts

What is cyst? Cyst is an abnormal structure like a bag that can be found anywhere in the body. Cysts usually contain gas, liquid, or semi-solid and has the outer wall as a capsule. Cysts may be small and only visible under a microscope but can also be very large so that pressing the normal body structure.

Types of ovarian cysts

In general, there are two main types of ovarian cysts:

  • Functional cysts

Each woman has two ovaries (ovaries) that stores and releases eggs. If a follicle fails to rupture and release an egg, the liquid can settle and form cysts in the ovaries. In ultrasound images, ovarian cysts resemble bubbles are thin-walled fluid-filled. This type of cyst called functional cysts or simple cysts. This is the most common cyst and usually disappear spontaneously within one or two menstrual cycles. Women of childbearing age can have a small cyst in her ovaries at any time. The new functional cysts become problematic if not disappear spontaneously after 2-3 months and causing pain or blocking the pregnancy.

  • Organic cyst / abnormal cyst

Cysts of this type is the result of abnormal cell growth (tumor), which are generally benign. In rare cases, the organic cyst can become cancer. Examples of organic cysts are dermoid cysts and polycystic ovaries (PCO). Dermoid cysts contain some unexpected materials such as fatty tissue, hair, teeth, pieces of bone and cartilage. Polycystic ovaries (PCO) is caused by a buildup of multiple small cysts that make hormones are not balanced so irregular periods, hair growth on the body and the patient become infertile.

Symptoms of Ovarian Cysts

  •  Bloating, pain or swelling in the abdomen.
  • Pain when urinating.
  • Pain in the pelvis shortly before or after the beginning of menstrual periods
  • Pain during intercourse.
  • Menstrual pain than usual
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Loss of appetite, feeling full after eating very little.
  • Dull pain constantly in one or both sides of the pelvis.
  •   Irregular menstruation.
  • The addition of facial hair.

When one of the above symptoms is felt, is very important for you to immediately see. These symptoms can also be a sign of ovarian tumors.

Ovarian Cysts Treatment

When ovarian cysts are found, the first important decision is whether the cyst will disappear without treatment. Functional cysts are expected to disappear spontaneously within a few weeks. If you persist and cause impairment, treatment is usually functional cysts with hormone pills / birth control pills. The doctor may also decide to remove it by laparoscopy when there is suspicion of complications. Organic cysts often need to be removed by action if cause interference.
